First topic message reminder :

Killian and Skye got their hands on an ancient magical doohickey that suddenly carked into life and sent him down the worm hole of time and space and after at some point during this slip saw a TARDIS and a couple of OOD ended up finding himself in a comfortable enough apartment heavily influenced by a love f the sea. Claire has been working at the FBI for a number of years now after escaping Ices rule, coming home late one night she finds the pirate that she knows exceedingly well despite never having met him before. Finally poor innocent flower crown lamb hearted baby nathan got himself sent back in time because of the ancient magical doohickey and landed face first on skyes ship with his only belongings being what he had in his pack at the time and the clothes on his back. With the doohickey broken and in killians possession for now Ices shadows have picked up on what happened and are now searching for him and the magical doohickey.

^ said ancient magical doohickey

He'd been going through his camera when she'd turned up again, getting up he nodded. Hiding his camera away in his bag again he managed to find a needle, thread and a few other bits and pieces now grateful he had done a course or two on first aid. Going to the galley that was turned into a hospital of sorts after a battle he began tending to the various wounds he found. Humming quietly to himself he didn't let the pirates get drunk before he operated, after one crew member got angry with him he spoke calmly "Rum makes you bleed more easy, it sounds mad but its true" why hadn't he brought his full first aid kit with him? such a pain in the ass.

Sitting on his shoulder she listened to him hum curiously, her head tilting somewhat, it wasn't unpleasant music. It was nice, running her beak through her chest feathers she ignored what he was doign until sudden noise startled her enough that she fell forward and flailing her one good wing hit the table with a thud. Scrambling up the birds feathers puffed out not unlike the fluffing up of a cats fur when it senses a threat, brown eyes stared uncomprehendingly at the strange box that had things flashing and noises coming from it. Uneasy she made a soft threatening noise towards the magic box.

Evading the traffic as best as she could she didn't have to think much before answering "Australia, which was a relatively newly discovered land in your time. Down to the south" she explained as best as she could "I know someone down there actually"

Once Skye was satisfied that he knew somewhat what he was doing, she left him to it, retreating to her cabin to patch herself up, unwilling to let men near her when she was vulnerable. The only one who was allowed to go near her after a battle was Killian, and he wasn’t around, which was starting to really worry her, even though there was nothing that she could do about it. Comforting her fox when she was finished, she made sure that she’d patched up all her wounds before heading back down to the galley, making sure that no one was too drunk yet.

Julian made a grab to catch the falcon and missed. Sighing, he smoothed her ruffled feathers gently. “It’s only a tv. It won’t hurt you.” He stayed at the table still humming to himself as he finished his dinner and then got his paperwork out to do. Content to just have the tv on as background noise, he let the falcon wander where she wanted, though he nudged her away whenever she got in the way of his work.

“Hmm.” He relayed the information to the shadow, who adjusted course accordingly, determined to find Mel before anything else went wrong. “What does he know about… things?” He was wary about revealing information about his sister, especially to someone who had no idea of what he and Claire could do, or what Ice had turned his sister into. “Would he be able to help?” He was only assuming that his sister was in her falcon form, simply because it was safer for her.

Once a pirate was stitched up then they were allowed to drink finishing off the last brute after having to use a pair of tweezers to remove large splinters from the mans arm. Hands bloody and feeling drained from the constant complaints of the pirates he chided them "Stop being such a pack of babies! pirates are supposed to be tough not whining like a little girl who had her teddy bear taken away from her!" passing the last pirate the bottle of rum he'd been complaining about he got up and stepped out of the room deftly maneuvering around skye.

It wouldn't hurt her? She didn't believe that, backing up and ending up on the paper work she determinedly stayed there until she was more certain. Wandering towards the strange box that had moving images she flapped the single wing she could irritated, she wanted to inspect whatever it was. Silently grumbling she made her way back towards the mans end of the table and sat on his wrist looking at what he was doing. She couldn't read very well if at all so she didn't make heads or tails of whatever it was he was doing

Skye followed him, her own bottle hanging from her hand. “You took their rum, of course they’re going to complain.” She was sore, and her fox winding around her ankles wasn’t helping the deep cut on her calf, but she pushed that to the back of her mind. “We’ll make a pirate out of you yet. Good at patching people up.” She took another drink, her eyes glittering with pain. “Hope you can keep numbers straight, it was a good looting today.”

He huffed when she sat on his paperwork, nudging her aside. “I promise it won’t hurt you, bird. Now scoot off the paper, would ya?” Once she was on his wrist, he stroked her back, starting to become fond of the sassy thing, and went back to work sorting through the cattle numbers and who he’d be selling off next. After that would be the horses and whether he’d have the funds to buy a mare that he’d been eyeing off, and then finally it would be time to go to bed. Next day he really had to go get that aviary, if only to keep her out of mischief when he had people around.

He rolled his eyes a little "giant toddlers the lot of them" he replied "better for them to get drunk after they've been sewen up, at least two will get infections from not keeping it clean and without penicillin or at least something like an antibacterial cream its going to get pretty ugly" he was intelligent when he was working, his cheerful self pushed back. Entering the brig he sighed "Numbers and figures are easy pirate princess" the young man told her with a shrug. Watching her drink he spoke "well i might as well get to it then, lead the way" the young man awaited the captains next move.

Settling down there she clacked her beak once when he petted her feathers, clambering up his arm so he could use both hands she settled down on his shoulder deciding that night she would investigate te magical box and decipher how it worked. The birds eyes flicked from him, to his work to the strange figures moving on the screen, the avians weight shifted until she ended up leaning against the mans head a little eyes ending up half closed apparently quite comfortable there

She shrugged, offering him the other bottle she had. “Settle down and relax, eager beaver. Winning a battle means relaxing all round. You can get back to work in the morning. You really think pirates will care about a bit of scarring? It’s all we brag about, boy. That and the rum.” She lifted the bottle in a toast to him before drinking again. Hearing a noise from the deck, she gave a startling quick grin. “Sounds like we got the songs going.” She turned and headed up, leaving him to work out what he wanted to do.

He chuckled softly when he felt her leaning against him, beginning to hum under his breath again as he worked. “You are a funny thing,” he murmured, finally shuffling through the paper to see if he’d missed something. Confident that it was all done, he stood up and filed it away, turning the tv off when he went past it. “Right, bed, little falcon. Vet said to check your wing in the morning, but it seems to be going okay. It’s not bothering you too much, that’s easy to see.” He helped her back onto her perch, making sure the water bowl he’d managed to attach to it was full, and then turned off the lights to head to bed.

Nathan sent her a look "Scarring isn't the issue. Its getting the wound closed so the wound dosen't get infected. Bad enough and people start loosing limbs" he replied sharply refusing the rum not in the mood for drink. Watching her leave he snorted to himself and sat back down in what was his area, the jail, not that it mattered, he didn't belong here. Or anywhere. But most especially not here, he didn't want to 'fit in' or be a pirate, he'd never wanted anything like that. The drunken row of the pirates on deck was annoying, how could people feel proud for killing others? It was something he'd always disagreed with Jacob over, the necessity for taking anothers life. He felt bad when he saw a cat that had been run over, what would they know? Their world was going to change in the near future, and the way of life they had now would be destroyed, after all the pirate island of Nassau was already teetering its way t disaster.

The bird continued to rest there half asleep before he decided he was done and got up, instantly she was awake and alert once agian. Stepping back onto the perch when he moved close enough the bird watched him as he turned off the lights and headed to bed. Picking up the meat he'd left for her to eat she dropped it on the floor, she wasn't hungry and didn't care that she hadn't eaten her dinner. Determined to inspect the screen Melissa scrambled down onto the ground and strutted over to it, some how she ended up getting stuck behind it in all of the strange rope-vines that wrapped around her. Remembering that he'd gotten grumpy for waking him up she remained there the entire night.

Her fox stayed, appearing to watch him out of cloudy blind eyes. It wasn't long before she was back, looking slightly drunker this time, and she leaned against the bars to watch him. "It's a kill or be killed world right now, boy," she advised. "If we hadn't won, you'd be dead right now. We just do what we can to survive." At least her injuries weren't hurting her as much now, that was good. Studying him more closely, she sighed, and dropped her arm to her side. "You're homesick, aren't you?" She could understand that. She was constantly homesick, but she needed to satisfy her wanderlust before she settled down to do what she needed to. "Find me tonight under the stars. It'll do you some good." With the gentle offer out in the open, she took another drink, content to continue watching him, curious about him and his ways. He was a softy, she knew that much, but he'd patched them up pretty well.

He was grateful that he wasn’t woken by screeching the next morning, but he found out the reason when he came into the kitchen. She wasn’t on her perch, and he soon found the meat on the floor. “Honestly? It’s been two days, and you’re already into mischief.” He scouted around, trying to work out where she’d be, and frowned. “Where’d you get to, you silly thing, hm?” He couldn’t think of any places that she could be that he hadn’t already looked, and sighed, putting the meat back on her perch.

Hearing his footsteps and his voice made her perk up a little, screeching particularly loudly wanting out of this daft trap she'd fallen into she struggled again harder this time before giving up. She just wasn't strong enough to combat the stupid ropes, sighing she rested her beak against the floor again trussed up neater than a turkey. Let me free! Release me of these strange ropes that have ensnared me so! she demanded with another deafening screech. She'd tried biting a few and had gotten a zap from one making her reluctant to do it again.

Nathan smirked a little to himself at her first words "Now you sound like my brother and father" he told her, feeling bitter enough to lean back against the wall and up at her "People always justify violence, an entire world war breaks out in the future because one man got himself assassinated. Over a million people were wounded and killed. yet still people justify it" he shook his head what was the point in trying to explain, how nice it'd be to instead be in that forest again in the quiet where no human noises interrupted the noise of birdsong and insects with the wind brushing through the leaves. The rush of satisfaction that occured when he was able to capture something wonderful, what did she want, why wasn't she with the rest of her joyful crew. He wanted to go back home, everybody would be happy, he'd be back with his camera and earth that didn't move underneath him and she'd have her precious first mate back. It'd be better for everyone.

Spinning at the screech, he frowned. Surely she hadn’t found her way behind the tv. Hearing the next one, he sighed, and made his way over, peeking over the back of the machine. “Well, you’re in quite the tangle there, sheila.” Moving the tv away from the wall, he crouched down, beginning to painstakingly untangle her, making sure that he wasn’t hurting her already sore wing. “Good thing you didn’t try to bite through any of these. That would have given you a nasty shock.” Finally freeing her, he carried her back to the table, setting her down gently. “At least you learn quick. Didn’t wake me at all, did you?”

She pointed a finger at him, surprisingly straight and steady. “You come up on the deck tonight. I’ll show you why I still stay on this ship.” She narrowed her eyes, understanding his point. She wasn’t a fan of violence herself, but she knew that if anyone other than her crew knew about what she could do, it was back to the chains and the cages for her. She had to fight to survive, she didn’t know any other way. All she wanted was to find a place that called to her, and where she could tend to her beloved plants in peace without fear of being found out.

Once they were at the crimescene she got out and looked up at the sky a moment "He knows about what I am, hes remarkably laid back for a human. I have a way to contact him" Claire informed the pirate a moment before looking out to where everyone else was gathering. Time to go back into the fray, she thought to herself wearily, feeling herself retreat back underneath the exterior self she showed to the world the woman strode forward confidently enough. Unaware she appeared similar to her mother her voice when she spoke again was cold and unforgiving "Anything apart from what I already know?" a brow slightly quirked at her inquiry. Listening as the young man there spoke, adding in what else they'd found her shadows subtly slipped around picking up things the humans had missed.

She was quiet as he untangled her and picked her out, finding herself set down on the table she shook herself out thoroughly to remove as much dust as she could. Looking up at him a moment she merely blinked her eyes and began tending to her ruffled feathers. She had to be careful and act more like a bird, ignoring him until her feathers were done the words he'd mentioned the night before came back to bother her. What were jesses and an aviary? that was not feasible she had already survived enough cages as it was without another one. Silently displeased with this idea she followed his movements with her head not exactly sure if he was suddenly going to stuff her into a cage again.

Nathan shrugged "Didn't ask why you do" he replied still in the annoyed state, everyone had their own battles to fight after all. Pirates. heh, he couldn't end up somewhere like a monastery or somewhere that didn't encourage slaughter, nope here he was stuck amongst cut throats that complained like babies when they didn't get their precious drinkies. Next they were going to expect him to kill, "You know, its kinda Ironic. My older brother would love this place" he finally said letting go of osme of his irritation. What was the point? He might as well keep on working and moving forward, after all if he was to be stuck here for the rest of his lonely life he might as well make the best of it. As it was he'd do his best to figure out a way back, for everyones sakes.

“Interesting,” Killian murmured, following her while his shadows poked about, curious about the place. The change in her demeanour and voice made him go slightly pale, mistaking her for Ice before he realised, and then he frowned. She had to be related, it was all becoming clear to him. But she hadn’t turned him in, and she seemed to be in hiding, so he would stay quiet for now. It wasn’t like Ice to be slow in recapturing, so he was hedging his bets that Claire was on the run, just as he was. Searching through his memories, he tapped his fingers against his thigh, trying to work out who she would be. She couldn’t be Ice’s daughter, she wasn’t old enough.

He left her on the table as he made his breakfast, thinking through the plans of the day. He had nowhere to keep her while he went into town, but he didn’t particularly want to put her back in the trap again. It was far too small for her. Reminded, he sent it a glare, knowing that he’d have to go bait it again. He needed to get rid of the cat, it was a damn nuisance. Finished with his food, he turned to look at her. “Reckon you can behave on your perch while I head into town?” He didn’t expect an answer, and he was expecting to come back to a mess from being left alone, but it was a risk he’d have to take. Holding her gently, he placed her on her perch, making sure she had some meat in case she was hungry, and then headed out, locking the door behind him.

She sighed. “I didn’t enjoy killing when I got on this ship,” she finally revealed. “But I used it to escape. I can’t go back from where I came from, not until I know it’s safe. It’s safer for me to kill than be killed.” She tilted her head, putting her rum on the ground, balancing easily in the rocking ship. “From what I know of Killian, he’ll be working to get back. I don’t doubt he’ll achieve, so you’ll get back to your own time. Or forward. Whatever you wish to call it.” Her father had often had visions of her at sea, and told her, knowing that it was part of her growth to wander around. He’d also mentioned a stranger who would come and go, and now that she’d met Nathan, she could only assume that this was him. “You won’t die here, so embrace it.” She spoke with conviction. Her fox would know if he was doomed, and would have told her. Pushing her drying, curly hair away from her face, she studied him for a long few moments before she left him, sending the rest of her crew below decks so that she could think in peace. The moon was starting to rise, and she wanted to be alone, see if the boy would take her up on her offer. She had the sense that he could be trusted with her gift.

After making some notes and listening to some of the others, Claire sighed quietly her features hardening a little as snow began to fall “Right get him back to the coroner, finish up here as quickly and efficiently as you can” turning back she walked back over to Killian and appeared to relax a little not knowing he'd begun to piece together who she was. “We're done here for now, lets go” they'd have to head to her work which was out of the way and she was unsure if he wanted to join her. Glancing back over her shoulder she sent a slight glare at the couple of coworkers that were staring at them both “oi back to work” Claire snapped icily before shaking her head a little and beginning to walk back towards her car, her shadows had gone over everything and had made several interesting conclusions. Ugh, the snow would end up obscuring some evidence, it also meant that christmas was on the way, she hated christmas, it was so shallow. People working to impressing one anoher and show off, as well as being obcessed with not being alone over it, not to mention the stupid christmas party every single year that she was invited to. Mana loved christmas, he loved the bright baubles and the songs, he was so naieve and innocent, he loved making christmas treats as well. The most she did each year was let him get a small tree and decorate it himself, she never wenet to the party or anything else, “Right, I need to go to work, if you want you can go home with mana – I can also get you in contact with Julia” so many things to do and not enough time to do it. Close enough to christmas to put pressures on her team, perfectly timed just great.

The bird listened as he spoke beginning to preen her featheres, she paid next to no attention to him until she was set down on her perch. Watching him she waited until he was gone before dumping the meat on the ground once again, with that done she stuck her head underneath her wing and began to catch up on sleep she'd missed being tangled up in the wires behind the strange possessed box. Was her brother around in this time and age? He was able to live and not die, perhaps she could find him, but she didn't know how to get in contact with him. Where was he?

He lifted an eyebrow at her tone to the others, knowing it all too well. She had to be of Ice’s line then. He kept his findings to himself, spreading his shadows out to do some snooping through the city to see what they could find about it. Pushing off the post he’d been leaning against, he tucked his hands into his pocket, barely noticing the snow that was starting to fall. He had a naturally high body temperature, a little bit of cold wasn’t going to bother him. “Someone knew what he was doing when he made the kill,” he said, almost airily. It was interesting to be on the other side of a hunt, seeing what people did once the body was found. His shadows had been very curious about it, learning all they could from the way the body had been killed and left. “Talking to him might be beneficial,” he said quietly, sliding into the car and letting Alkira hop in at his feet. “Something tells me he’ll be more helpful than we think.” He didn’t often question his gut feeling, and this one was telling him to talk to the human. He didn’t really want to go back to the flat, it was beginning to feel cramped, and he wanted to roam outside. He was safe enough from Ice in this time, he may as well take advantage of it. “I’ll tag along.” The shadows he’d sent to find his sister were still working on it, and he encourage the along, urging them to the big hot land that her shadow had told them about. She had to be there.

It was a short trip into town to find the large aviary and some supple leather to make the jesses for the falcon. There was something very strange about the bird, but Julian put it down to not being able to fly, and probably being in a bit of pain. Hopefully once her wing had healed, she’d be more herself. Picking up a new bale of hay in the process, he whistled his way back home. Ignoring the excited nickers of the horses at the sight of the hay, he put it in the shed, and carried the aviary inside, glancing at her. Seeing that the bird was just asleep, he managed to miss stepping on the meat at the last second, and sighed, picking it up. “Sulking, are you? I have a feeling you’re gonna be sulking more by the time we’re done today.” She’d protested enough at the small trap, she wasn’t going to like the large one, but it was better to be safe than sorry in his mind. Leaving her still sleeping, he headed out again to work with the young horses, content to leave making the jesses for her until that evening, when she would hopefully be quieter and easier to work with.

Acknowledging his decision with a short sharp nod, Claire turned the car towards where the office was. Glancing at her watch and figuring out the time difference she dialed the number one handedly and handed it to Killian "hold that up to your ear and when he answers say you're a friend of mine alright? The rest is up to you" It was a rare thing being able to talk to someone without going stiff and cold, it was like she'd known him for years, probably because of the books. Musing to herself, and driving carefully through the snow she kept quiet other than adding "and press the red button to end the call" she had no idea how she was going to explain the magic of cellphones to the guy except google it.

The ring of Julians cellphone awakened her from her sleep, angry at the strange device the bird sent it a glare. Maneuvering her way over to the loud noise maker she poked at several of the buttons with her beak trying to decide what one she would destroy first. How irritating that this thing disturbed her from her much needed rest, with an aching wing that was pinned to her side her patience was much less than it normally was. However the voice that spoke when she pressed the right one gave her a rush of hope, making a surprisingly soft affectionate sound she looked around for her brother looking for the owner of the voice. Instead there was nothing except strange noise from the device that she fully intended on destroying

He took the strange thing without a word, studying it intently before he did what she said. It took a while for the strange sound to stop, and he frowned, waiting for a response. Hearing nothing, he finally said a simple hello, and the affectionate response he got settled his gut. “Melly?” It had to be her. However which version of his sister it was would be the hard thing to figure out. Guessing that if she was in her falcon form, and if she was at this Julian’s place, then it was his time’s sister, he spoke again, rubbing Alkira between the ears gently. “I’m coming. You just stay put, okay lioness?” waiting until she’d given some form of confirmation before he hung up, he handed the device back, shutting his eyes for a while. It surely had to be his sister, he couldn’t fathom any other reason that she’d be in a place like that unless she’d been injured and a human had found her. At least he knew where she was now.

Overjoyed to hear her brothers voice again the falcon listened carefully and made affectionate noises whenever he paused. Once he had hung up she abandoned the phone and returned to her perch, amusing herself by raking her claws over the wood making patterns she looked up when the human finally returned. Sharp eyes watched him warily, feeling somewhat hungry now she'd had some contract with her brother, awkwardly making her way down to the floor and plucking out a feather that stuck out at an angle and began eating the meat that had been left out and pushed off of her perch.

with the most caffine hyped drink she could find Claire sat in the local park with a headache over what was going on. Not caring that there was snow everywhere she remained on her sheltered seat taking careful sips of the coffee, ignoring the overly sweet taste that she couldn't do anything about. Missing Cynder who had no choice but to hide in the shadows so as not to start a panic, she'd been getting a niggling feeling ever since she had seen the crime scene. In logical terms it was impossible which only could mean that perhaps a creature had preformed the crime, a soft noise of pain and complaint left her "oh god" she muttered taking a long drink, it was complicated and wasn't helping her head ache. It looked like she'd have to possibly talk to Killian, perhaps he'd know of something, straightening back up Claire tiredly reopened her eyes.

Nathan managed to find his way up onto the deck and stared up at the stars with slight amazement, sure he'd been out under open stars but in his time there was so much light pollution nomatter where you were. Smiling slightly as the wind tugged at his clothes and hair, he turned looking around for the captain who had asked him here.

Finished with his work, Julian whistled his way back inside, glancing at the falcon. Happy that she was eating again, he pulled out the leather he’d bought, and sat at the table, wrinkling his nose a little as he tried to work out the best way to make a pair of jesses for her. Noticing that he’d left his phone on the table, he pulled it towards him, frowning. Claire had tried to call him, but it had been answered. Deciding to call her back, he let it ring on speakerphone, glancing up at the falcon. “Did the ringing annoy you, bird? Bet you just pressed buttons to make it stop. Wouldn’t surprise me. You’re smarter than the average bird.”

Finished with his exploring of the area, Killian easily found Claire, his hands tucked into his deep pockets, Alkira at his heels. His shadows easily made her look like an unassuming dog, which made them both feel better. “Thank you,” he said, offering her the strange thing back. He had no idea which version of his sister he’d found, but it was better than not knowing where she was. And his gut was telling him that she was out of her time just as he was.

The awed expression on the boy’s face made her own expression soften a little, and she beckoned to him, not leaving the wheel. “You like the stars then?” She glanced up herself. “It’s peaceful out here. I usually take this shift, it’s nice being alone on the deck under the stars.” She flicked her fingers, and a ball of fire hovered above her hand before it danced into the sky, looking like another star. “You seem like you’d enjoy it more at night too.”

She'd ignored him, eating the meat hungrily before eyeing her perch considering climbing back up to sit on it again. However the ringing drew her attention, turning to stare at him and the table she awkwardly wandered over sending him a sharp look. Wanting up onto the table, she made her way up awkwardly flapping her single wing to help her on her way. Once on the table the bird sent the annoying noise maker a look considering attacking it, why did it feel the need to make more noise? Would it be her brothers voice again coming through the small box? Inching over to it she continued to consider destroying the annoying thing tilting her head from side to side.

Hearing footsteps she looked up, taking the phone back she smiled slightly "No problem" she murmured, not aware of how drawn she looked. As her phone rang again she sighed and answered it "Hello Julian, yes I did try to call you, all i heard was a whole lot of button pressing and screaming of what sounded like a bird..." she'd been able to hear a little bit of Killians conversation to throw together a convincing story. As much as she disliked it, thanks to her police work she'd become an accomplished liar far better than she'd been once upon a time. She looked meaningfully at Killian, clearly but silently stating she wished to talk to him once she was done with this call

Nathan wandered over to her when she beckoned "Well in my time there is so much light pollution in the cities that you can't see as many stars as you can here" he looked up at them again jumping a little in surprise at the magic that was suddenly used infront of him. "What i did a couple of times was leave an exposed lense out and i got an amazing picture even better than this" as always he was rabbiting on about his beloved pictures

He pushed the bird out of the way of the phone, continuing to fiddle with the leather as he spoke. “Oh I wondered what she’d done with it. What’d you need, youngster? You haven’t called or visited for a while. Is everything alright?” He made a face at the leather, and got to his feet, rummaging around to find the images of jesses that he’d printed off earlier.

He tilted his head, watching her intently. Seemed like the person she’d been wanting him to talk to was talking to her now. Maybe they could finally get this mess sorted out the easy way. Staying quiet as she talked, he kicked at the snow gently, irritating his jackal as he waited.

She gave him a small smile. “The stars are why I stay,” she told him. “And it’s easier to be on the run on a ship. So many more places to hide in the sea than there are on land.” She was playing with her magic, making the flames dance around lightly, making shapes and swirls in the air. “Eventually I’ll settle in the forest somewhere, build a garden.” She shrugged, her sharp eyes resting on him. “Killing isn’t something I particularly enjoy, but it’s what I have to do to survive. You’ll understand eventually.” She looked back up at the skies, letting the fire die back. “Exposed lens? You’re talking nonsense again.”

Turning around and biting his finger when she was pushed, the bird shook itself off and cast him a dirty look. The noise maker was annoying when it wasn't her brother talking, she called out in a screech wondering if he was there and if he could hear her. Moving over to inspect the leather that had been left on the table she fiddled with it wondering what he was trying to make, moving to perch on the back of the chair she watched the man move around. Not exactly trusting whatever the human was up to she turned her head attempting to remove the item that kept her wing pinned to her side. It hurt, she wanted it off, she hadn't been able to tend to her feathers on that side because of it.

Claire winced hearing the loud screech right in her ear, "Yeah, thats why I rang. I've got a really weird case thats going to be a headache bringer and was planning to use some holiday time after it. Was wondering if I could show up at yours, i've found a friend who is" she glanced at Killian a moment trying to figure out the best way to explain him away "Interested in coming with. wouldn't be for a couple of weeks yet, but thought i'd book you in advance" she talked easily into the receiver, she felt comfortable around Julian. She'd spent quite a bit of time working for him and learning all about horses from him after she'd escaped Ice. waiting for his reply she took another sip from the drink, the hot scalding liquid warming her, Cynder appeared in the shadows underneath the table. It was unusual for a soul shadow to be the same gender as their master, the female dragon remained shrouded her green eyes the only things able to be seen.

He was admittedly a little worried about her playing with fire above a wooden ship, thankfully the captain seemed to have full control of her abilities. Her comment about killing made him frown and look away, "I could never hurt someone else" he murmured softly, even if they were hurting him. The idea of him hurting another made him feel sick "If you want a killer you got the wrong brother" his voice was soft and quiet, but it was the truth unlike himself his brother was very good at killing. He'd probably feel right at home on this ship, unlike himself, was it so bad to not want to hurt anyone? To want to make people smile and take photographs of beautiful things? The man who shared several traits with a puppy sighed and found a place to sit "An exposed lens is when i leave a camera out over night and its able to take in all the stars we can't see at once" fishing around in his backpack he'd retrieved out of her quarters he found the correct picture and offered it to her. "like this" he provided

He frowned at the bird. “Don’t bite me, and leave your wing alone.” Sitting down again, he shifted her off the back of his chair, and directed his words to the phone again. “Sorry about that. Sure, come down whenever. You’re always welcome, you know that.” He harboured a soft spot for the girl, knowing that she’d been through plenty of tough times. She’d turned out good in the end, though it had taken work. The horses had helped with that. “Your friend’s welcome, too, no worries. Just let me know when you’ll be here, and it’ll be right.”

He perked up a little, hearing the screech. So she was talking to someone where his sister was. “Who’s the bird?” he asked softly, hoping to get her to ask the same question before she stopped talking. He was fairly certain that it was his sister, but it never hurt to know what the bird looked like. Noticing the dragon, he moved so that she was hidden from view from anyone passing by, watching Alkira absently as she began to roam.

Sending the fire dancing above the waves, she smiled at his worried look. “Don’t worry about the ship. I know how to control the flames.” She secured the wheel when he offered the photo, taking it gingerly and studying it, her violet eyes wide. Leaving her fox balancing on the wheel between the spokes, she settled near the man, handing the image back. “It’s beautiful,” she murmured, looking back up at the sky. Remembering that he’d said something about killers, she flashed him a grin. “Silly, thing. I don’t need a killer, not with Killian around. You’re doing just fine with the stores.”

A fond smile tinged her features "Thanks Jules, whos the owner of the screech? Found another lost soul?" she went along with what her new acquaintance and tenant had said not quite understanding why he'd asked but hey whatever worked. The dragon underneath the seat with its strange haunting mismatched eyes didn't kick up a fuss as the shadow man moved closer, she could feel felidae pulsing in his back. Shaking her head a little she sighed and began trying to remove the silver from her yet again ignoring how it burned her mouth. As an after thought she put Julian on speaker so Killian could hear his response to the bird.

Nathan took the picture back watching her carefully, "I don't know, it sees this time and place requires plenty of killers" tucking the photograph away he fiddled with one of his cameras. Wanting to keep his hands busy, carefully cleaning of it of any imagined dust "What plants would you have in your garden?" he asked finally turning to put the camera away and fishing around inside his bag finding the stack of photos that were kept together with a rubber band

He sent a watchful glance at the flacon, making sure she wasn’t getting into too much trouble. “Yeah, found her trapped in that cat trap I’ve got set up. Can’t fly, her wing’s hurt, but vet said it’d heal in a couple of weeks no worries. Strange little thing, not native. I reckon she’s a kiwi falcon. Too smart for her own good, if you ask me.”

Killian shifted his shoulders, pain spiking through him as felidae moved about, but he gave no indication of it. Tilting his head, he listened to the response, relief showing clear on his face. It had to be his sister, and it explained why she was stuck as a bird. Giving a nod of thanks, he shifted away a little, giving her room to finish the conversation.

She snorted softly, getting up to take her place back at the wheel. “There are plenty of cutthroats around. There’s a shortage of ones like you. Better be careful if you stay long.” Stroking her fox’s fur gently, she gave him an odd glance when he mentioned her garden, wondering what he meant. “I’m not sure. Bright ones, mostly red and orange, if I can. Lots of herbs, spices, medicinal plants. Anything I can find, really. I’ll be tending to it for a long time, may as well make it interesting.

Melissa after giving the annoying talker machine another glare inspected the rest of the table returning yet again to the leather he had been fiddling with. Carefully inspecting each piece before moving away and settling down at the other end of the table looking over at the windows staring out at the outdoors. Brother... come find me where are you the trapped bird thought to herself wishing he could hear her. But without her shadow there was no way he could as much as she wished it, she was stuck with the human until he found her. Annoying man with long hair, it is your fault i got stuck in that trap and your fault again that i am stuck in here with all these confusing things i understand not. Glancing over her shoulder to sent a narrowed look at him as she thought she returned to worrying at the aching wing.

Listening quietly and paying attention to Killian Claire made a noise of agreement "Sounds a bit queer, still sounds like shes in good hands. I'll be in touch" with a fond farewell she hung up and tucked the phone away before looking at Killian becoming determined "Whoever is the killer of this case isn't human, shadows have been over it every which way and there is no way a human could have pulled that off. It was someone like us" which meant more headaches for her, if it was a shadow master if she ever managed to catch them she couldn't exactly turn them over to the justice system as she would en up being fingered as one as well. She was not going to live in a concrete room again, no way, no how. Taing a calming breath trying to relax herself she set the coffee to the side wanting nothing more than to hug her dragon and run her hands over the slightly rough scales. But she couldn't do that she had to sort this, "Just have to find who"
