Khepri

KHEPRI; egyption god of creation, rebirth, and the movement of the sun.

status; king
queen; asaara
[to-be]wife; seshat
allies; ketojan
parents; aganju I and blaze
grandparents; feng ming and icefire ; bruticus and marla
cubs; --

---

khepri came from the stars. or so it seemed. it had been just hours after the young king ketojan had made the decision to find a sub male, a friend and ally to aid him in learning to be a proper king, that khepri appeared on the outskirts of the pride. his coat was like fire, a bright orange blazing against the dark, starry sky, a small colourful lizard sat on his shoulder like a trophy. his smile was warm, his eyes glittering with a dangerous expression as he bowed down to the new king and his young queen, a lioness with eyes that looked a hundred years old. and they bore right through the fiery male. but ketojan couldn't help but trust in his dashing smile. khepri was brought into the pride with an agreement to teach young keto everything he was too naive to know.

and so he did. khepri spent six months with the pride, teaching ketojan how to rule his kingdom and protect his lands. but no matter what he did, he couldn't remove the young males' innocence. each day he was just as naive, but stronger. khepri knew it would be his downfall. the blind trust he placed in everyone. and he would be there to pick up the pieces, even if he had to shatter them himself. he had spent long enough with this pride, it would be easy to seize control- they trusted him. all except for one. that queen, that konani and her too-wise eyes. she saw khepri- really saw him, through the charming, friendly costume. she saw his deceiving ways, the dark glint in his shining eyes and the truth behind his sly smile. and she saw the most terrifying part- his patience. khepri was not like the mad king caecus from her days as a cub, he was not blind and mad and desperate for control. khepri was willing to wait, to draw everything out until the perfect excuse or accident gave him all the reason he needed to overthrow the prides' poor young king. but her king would never believe her- would never believe that the lion who had grown to be his good friend would betray him. it was a game, to khepri- and in it he was the king. he was the master of deception and he would have his kingdom.

he had been with the pride for just over seven months when ketojan decided to pay a visit to a neighboring pride- a pride that had been allies with his own since the days of old, the days of their first king. a king who was long dead and remembered only by those who cared to pass it on. it was not a long journey- a day west of the pride he had made his home. but it was not a peaceful sight that the pair was met with. it was chaos and sorrow and death. the king, jackal, had not fared well through the heat the drought and the lack of prey that had befallen the land of late. ketojan and khepri arrived to the scene of the red-eyed king and a pair of his lionesses, cold, with the scent of death clinging to their lifeless bodies. they had starved in the night. it was just a ragged group of lionesses now, huddled over their young kings' lifeless body, just three years older than ketojan. and khepri took advantage of it.

ketojan and khepri stayed with the pride for several days, however when the young maltese king departed, khepri did not. every kingdom needed it's king- and this one had just lost theirs. without another suitable male within the territory or anywhere around it, khepri was made king of this broken pride by order of ketojan- a gift to a friend and repayment for months of teaching. and it only took khepri days to rally the pride, to gain their trust and sneak his way into their hearts- and it took even less time still to whip them into shape. the young huntresses began bringing back more food, better food and khepri found his queen- naunet, the violent young lioness. and here, he felt safe. for none of these lionesses could see the dark glint in his eyes, or the truth behind his sly smile. it was all a game, and in it he was king- and they were his trophies.

asaara and naunet were the most valuable of them. his queen and his warrior. though try and he might khepri could not muster up any true emotions towards them- towards any of them, aside from mere attraction. they were beautiful, they were unique. they were his, his trophies. his subjects that lived in his kingdom and he would keep them and hold onto them until they were ripped from him but, he did not love them. not until a sweet young lioness with an expression that reminded him of the naive young ketojan showed up on the outskirts of his pride. and she was beautiful, in ways unlike the others. and she was soft and quiet and gentle and intelligent and she smelled of the lilies that grew along the riverbank. and she had been with the pride for mere days before he went to her, it was late and the stars hung in the sky overhead and he promised asaara he would be back soon, he was just making sure all was well in his pride before he retired for the night. and he found her, resting beneath a tree and he lowered himself to the ground, pressing his dark head against her silky side and he rolled his body against her, murmuring gently praises against her coat as he groomed her. and he told her he would have her as his wife once she came of age, regardless of any variables that may affect his decision. she would be his seshat.

Seshat

SESHAT; goddess of reading, writing, arithmetic, and architecture

status; adolescent
future; royal/queen?
[to-be]husband; khepri
parents; eskeron and sciastea

---

much of seshat is unknown. she was merely a year old when she was found, lurking around the outskirts of the pride with the small body of a rat hanging from her jaws. and she was alone, all alone so very alone. and she needed a place, needed a home, and khepri saw the delicate beauty in her. he had been king for a day and already he had begun making changes- starting with her. seshat was brought into the pride. she was given to asaara as an apprentice, a friend.

and they bonded. they were the two most beautiful lionesses in the pride and the two most sweet lionesses in the pride and they would spend each and every day together. asaara would teach her young subject to hunt, and seshat would curl up beside her queen int he evenings and share stories of the long time she had been on her own, lost from her fathers' pride in the middle of a storm. it wasn't long after seshat joined the pride that khepri came to her, pressing his dark head into her side and murmuring praise. he told her he would take her as a wife when she came of age, his beautiful seshat. asaara did not notice the affections her beloved king had for her new friend, and seshat feared her response.

Asaara

ASAARA; meaning wind

status; queen
husband; khepri
parents; prospero and konani
grandparents; carmi and indy
siblings; ketojan

---

asaara was loved from the moment she was born- she was beautiful, just like her mother, the first daughter of the future queen. from a young age, asaara had the whole pride wrapped around her fragile little paws. the lionesses all cared for her, protected her, and the other cubs all loved to play with her. as the future princess grew, she became her mothers' shadow. she walked among the pride with grace and elegance, her words were always soft and sweet, a smile dancing on her gentle features. and the two male cubs of the pride followed her every step, bidding for who would get to marry the princess when she came of age.

little asaara was just a couple of months away from her second name day when she stumbled upon a tiny little creature- with a brown body and two long legs. it was a jerboa, she recognized, just a baby. all alone. the little thing took to her as though she were it's mother, and in turn, asaara stared calling it kadan- person one cares about. it wasn't long after that her mother came to her, telling her young princess that just days after her second nameday she would be set to marry the pride's heir, kenai. she didn't mind the thought- asaara had been sure she was to marry the king, hawke, as one of his lesser wives. that idea was not one that appealed to her. perhaps kenai would be better.

but everything changed rapidly. just days after her second name day she was out hunting with the older lionesses, and upon their return everything went down hill. she saw hawke, looming over the bloody pink body of little caecus, and she saw the huntress saarebas lash out and kill hawke. kenai was nowhere to be seen, and it later became known that he had been sold off as another prides' heir just hours before the death of their king. the young, innocent male ketojan took over the pride, much to asaara's surprise, and she was robbed of her betrothed.

asaara was still a princess of the crown, but no longer the happy betrothed of a loving prince. her half brother sat on the throne now, all but clueless, and asaara, albeit young rose to be one of the best hunters within the pride. though not for long. when ketojan returned from the neighboring pride, their closest allies, alone and without their trusted submale khepri, it was announced that jackal had been claimed by the harsh drought, and khepri had remained as king regent, and that the young princess asaara would go to him. she would be his queen.

and so she did. asaara arrived just days after khepri took the throne, and was married to him just days after that. the first born daughter of the queen konani, it was only natural that the skilled young lioness be first chosen as queen for a brand new king. and asaara finally had her loving prince. her warm king. khepri. she could not see past the charming face he wore each day- did not notice the dangerous look in his eye as he strode confidently through his new territory. she just knew that each night as the king with a pelt of fire curled around his beautiful young queen with eyes like gold and heart to match, that she felt safe and warm and at home. here. with her handsome king and her dearest friend.

Naunet

NAUNET; goddess of the primeval waters of chaos

status; lead huntress/royal
parents; louis tomlinson and itork
cubs; unborn

---

from a young age, naunet was fiery and brave and violent and oh so very confident. she knew she was the best of the best, she knew she would grow up to be a queen or a royal or a fiercely skilled warrior who led her fellows into hunts and battles alike. and she knew she was desired. the way the other young lionesses stared at her pelt of molten gold, and her brilliant, gleaming gems of eyes that each were a different bold color that she was beautiful. she did not have to be told.

and she was right. naunet did grow to be the best of the best, she did grow to be desired and sought after and she did grow to lead her fellows into battles and hunts alike. at a very young age naunet bested the most skilled huntresses of ketojans' pride, and all eyes were on her glittering golden pelt as the arrogant young lioness neared her first heat. but it was not their king she chose to take as a mate that day- no it was jackal who she fled to in the glittering hours of dawn. jackal who she chose to father her first cubs- little did she know what a state she would find the red-eyed king in on her arrival.

he was thin, his eyes tired and his pelt scratched and scarred, and his lionesses fared no better than him. he was unwilling to admit he was unwell. unwilling to admit he was running on fumes and near death. and the sight of his pride in such a state pulled a string in the wild naunet. she would remain with his pride for the duration of her pregnancy- she would would assist this dying pride. but she could only do so much. it had been but a mere two months when she awoke to a wail. jackal had withered away in the night, a king of only seven and he had died silently in his den, alone. and then they arrived. her king, and khepri. and over a course of mere days khepri found himself a king, a ruler and protector of a weary realm, a kingdom in need of help.

and naunet was placed at the helm. she was ordered to remain. she was ordered to lead these lionesses into hunts and battles alike and she was ordered to keep this pride alive. and beside khepri she did. the king was charming, sly, just a bit too intelligent, but naunet never cared. never stopped to think about the dangerous expression that was always hidden just beneath the surface. because she had grown up to be the best of the best. she had grown up to be desired. she had grown up to lead lionesses into hunts and battles alike and it was all she cared to do. and she kept the pride alive, armed with khepri and her fierce determination, she kept the pride alive.
