First topic message reminder :

Faolan is a 900 year old witch who's been quite happy to wander Ireland and the world for a while. Having found a trace of strange magic in a pub, he's working on finding the witch to make sure that they're not untrained, and therefore dangerous.

Saoirse is a young selkie-witch with no real knowledge of her witch heritage. Having sold her home after her father died, she's just roaming the country busking for money, unaware that she's leaving a breadcrumb trail of magic that Faolan can follow.

As he settled more into her hold she started to doze off, frequently tired these days, warm with his arms around her and head leaning against her shoulder the demon couldn't help the chance to rest. Stirring when she felt him nuzzle into her shoulder, Rose forced her eyes open and yawned although she perked up quite quickly when he mentioned he was hungry. A proper smile was flicked his way, allowing him to take her hand she gripped his firmly getting up with him, wandering back inside with him she quietly mentally spoke with Bran asking him to go to the witch for some of the potions that he had for Saoirse. Once they had the potion she'd make him take it then settle down with him, "The birds gone to get some of that sleeping potion, you can have some after we've had something to eat" then they'd go to bed and she'd sleep as best as she can, unable to take the potion as she herself was pregnant the demon had to battle with her nightmares on her own. She was hoping that him being there would be enough to dispel the dreams if not she'd have to keep them to herself.

Deciding that he wanted toast, he made some for them both, and nodded in response to her words. He was grateful for the offer of being able to sleep without dreaming, and he hoped that it would start to help. He couldn’t really remember the last time he’d slept okay, even in the memories. Managing to get down a couple of pieces of toast, he took her hand again, waiting for the bird to return. It was a strange thing, that shadow, and he couldn’t quite work him out. Drifting over to his puzzles, he fitted in a few more pieces before finally heading to bed, sticking close to her. He was so tired, and he just wanted to snuggle with her so that they could both sleep.

Happily eating the toast she was more than pleased with the fact that he was able to get down a few pieces, not minding when her hand was taken again she merely twined her fingers with his and flicked him a reassuring smile. Everything would be okay, moving with him as he fitted in a few more pieces of the puzzle, she studied the pictures they were making rather interested in them. Finally bran returned with a bottle of the stuff she'd asked for, reading the instructions she put together a drink and added the solution to it. Finding him in their bedroom she passed him the drink "Drink" she ordered before kicking off her shoes and changed into comfy sleeping clothes before joining him in bed. Snuggling close she yawned and rested her head on his shoulder instead of the pillow, she'd missed sleeping cuddled close to him, "Sleep now" despite her words she didn't fall asleep right away, instead her thoughts once again turned to the fact that she'd recently discovered. She wanted to marry him, although it was too little too late, it was unlikely that she could have that after what Ice had done to him. Rather pleased that because her head was resting on his shoulder he wouldn't be able to see her face, she closed her eyes trying to ignore the tug that was only growing stronger each night as the moon got closer and closer to being full.

Obeying her orders, Angus snuggled down with her, quickly falling asleep. Thankfully this time his sleep was dreamless, and he slept much better, finally getting some much needed rest so that he could begin to recover properly. Waking late the next morning, he nestled in closer to her with a soft sigh, feeling better already. His hands still ached from the nails, and he curled his hands into fists to try and ignore the ache. Keeping his eyes closed, he listened to Rose’s breathing, letting his mind drift. There were foggy memories lurking at the edges of his mind, but he let them be, having learned that pushing at them only made them flee. Content where he was, he began to drift back to sleep again, hoping that he wouldn’t fall asleep deeply enough to have dreams or nightmares this time.

PostSubject: Re: Just a Matter of Magic   Just a Matter of Magic - Page 11 I_icon_minitimeFri Nov 17, 2017 10:33 pm

Despite her intentions she'd fallen asleep, her body needing the rest especially with the extra stress that had introduced itself into her life. Sleeping fairly averagely she was already awake by the time Angus had although she feigned sleep not wishing to have to deal with the world just yet, listening to his breathing it soon smoothed out again suggesting he was in a light doze. Shifting her weight slightly, the demon turned her head a little so as to hide her face in him, she missed him so much, memories played themselves in her head. How was it that she only realized just how dear he was to her until something had happened? Digging her teeth into her lip, hating how emotional she was, the demon was out of touch with feeling so many different things at once, her fingers began tracing patterns on his chest. Absently drawing what memories bubbled to the surface, it was all her fault, she should have been more vigilant, she shouldn't have gone for a hunt if she'd stayed he'd be himself, it was her fault he didn't remember and had nightmares of what ice had done to him. Not wanting to get up, or look up at him for fear he could potentially read everything that was plaguing her, Rose closed her eyes although her hand kept tracing.

PostSubject: Re: Just a Matter of Magic   Just a Matter of Magic - Page 11 I_icon_minitimeFri Dec 01, 2017 12:20 am

Waking from his doze at her movements, Angus still continued to stay quiet, sleep still tugging at him to stay away from the world. Memories drifted through his mind, mostly ones he’d already discovered, but a few were new, and he studied them at a careful distance, not wanting to chase them away. Letting them settle in their spots, he moved enough to unconsciously nuzzled into Rose’s hair, the movement feeling instinctive and natural. He let a soft sigh escape him, thoroughly comfortable with her despite being slightly hungry. The patterns she was tracing weren’t bothering, more they were sending him back to sleep again, and he tightened his arm around her, holding her close. She was his anchor, he couldn’t lose her. She had to stay with him, otherwise he was just going to lose everything and drift away. Becoming a little upset about it, he shut his eyes and hid his face in her hair, trying to settle himself before she picked up on it.

A smile etched itself onto her face when he moved to nuzzle into her hair, it gave her a surprising amount of hope that he was still him, some parts of him had survived what Ice had done to him. Continuing to trace patterns, she was surprised when his arms tightened around her, normally she might have called him out on it or made some kind of a jet, right now however she didn't feel the need and so ceased her tracing so she could wrap her arms about him and hug him tightly trying to say without words that she wasn't going anywhere. Feeling him shift slightly and hide his face in her thickly growing short cropped hair, her own arms tightened about him as if she'd never let him go. Somewhat grumpy that her rather round belly was getting in the way she huffed, snuggling as close as she could get which wasn't much more no thanks to her belly. She stayed like that for quite a while longer before finally the gnawing hunger forced her to get up "Come on Asparagus, we both need to eat" rather hungry she produced rather brown almost burn pancakes, and rather merrily added jam to hers before downing a fair few in rapid succession

Rather content with her, and just letting memories drift in and out of is mind, he'd closed his eyes and was considering going back to sleep when she got up. Yawning, he watched her for a moment, puzzling over the name. "Asparagus?" It wasn't ringing any bells, and he continued to frown I've rot as he followed after her into the tiny shared kitchen-living area. Moving a few books so that he could perch on the table while she cooked, he picked at the pancakes, managing to get a few down and so eating a bit more than he had been. "What's the name from?" he finally asked, unable to place it. It was bothering him, something told him that he should remember that name, but it was all just blank. Humming a tune that just seemed to come to him out of the blue, he couldn't quite remember the words to it, but at least the tune was a step in the right direction. "What other nicknames do you have for me?" At least it seemed like the good nights sleep has driven away the black thoughts that had been plaguing him recently - either that or just snuggling with Rose. He was inclined to think that it was Rose, but a mixture of both worked just as well. Picking up the nearest book, he leafed through it absently, unsure what it was about and why he'd have it.

PostSubject: Re: Just a Matter of Magic   Just a Matter of Magic - Page 11 I_icon_minitimeSun Dec 10, 2017 7:00 pm

Glancing up at the question a smirk flicked onto her face, “Came up with it during a hunt awhile ago” scratching the back of her head her smirk turned into a grin “was on a farm and I realized asparagus has your name in it” the smile remained on her face as he began humming one of the songs she recognized as one of his. Also pleased that he was eating, the red head appeared to be in a genuine good mood, he queried her other nicknames making her snort with amusement “Heaps, Curly, hairy, fishbreath, whiskers, gus, idiot” finishing off the last of the pancakes she’d made Rose shifted her feet feeling restless. Stealing the book from him she put it down and out of reach “Come on” taking his hand the woman dragged him out of the small flat and out to the beach. It was already a warm day and the water was calling to her, walking into the water and feeling it wrap around her legs she tightened her grip a little hating that the twins she carried had the power to change her being the way it had. Keeping a firm hold of Angus’s hand, letting him anchor her so she didn’t vanish into the waves, the demon ignored the sting of the salt in the water and continued to walk along with him happy to let him figure out more memories on his own. He was safe and sound from ice for now and she’d do everything to help him, there were so many memories that swirled around in her head, good ones bad ones most of them had him in them. Surely he’d remember them, he had to, how they’d met, how they’d become friends and more, despite her outward attitude they all meant so much to her. He was her world.

She’d slept in, waking up when the sun on her face started to bother her, sitting up she listened quietly to the noises of music guessing the festival had begun. Her mentor had told her a little about it, and she’d decided not to have much to do with it, slowly getting up she pulled the brush through her thick hair, she’d started to trust her Mentors mother who was trying to teach her music, she still didn’t have the drive or the muse to play anything and often just sat there holding an instrument away from what was going on. Once her fine hair was tended to the selkie dressed herself and wandered out of the house, skipping eating again she headed down to the stream and sat down setting her bare feet in the water, she hated how vulnerable and unstable she felt, she’d hoped she’d made progress but it didn’t feel like it. Closing her eyes she tried to fight back the tears, however they were stronger than she was and she began quietly crying, silent tears sliding down her cheeks. Slowly the tears stopped and she was able to get a hold of herself, wiping her tears away quietly, the girl moved to sit in the water, feeling its warm calm waters reassure her that everything that was okay. Listening to the music that played, she could hear the various instruments and name most of them, she missed playing but she just didn’t have anything to play, she felt so empty and hollow empty husk. There were no words she could put that adequately described how she felt, indeed it felt like words just didn’t mean anything to her anymore, so what was the point of speaking? Indeed it’d been over the past couple of days that she’d just stopped speaking once again, she’d run out of words.

PostSubject: Re: Just a Matter of Magic   Just a Matter of Magic - Page 11 I_icon_minitimeTue Dec 12, 2017 2:03 pm

Still frowning slightly, he searched his memories, trying to find what hunt she was talking about, and sighed when he found nothing. He couldn’t remember any sort of hunts, or what they could have been hunting. Even the names in the book she’d taken from him were all new, though the book looked well used and thumbed through. “Did I write that book?” he asked absently, wincing a little as her tight grip made the wounds in his hand sting. “Or did someone else?” Wandering along beside her, he waded through the water curiously, wondering if this time there would be the tug that she said he was supposed to have. There wasn’t. Giving up looking for it, he turned his attention back to trying to find more memories, wanting to remember everything so that he could understand his place and the books and Rose. Searching, he decided maybe it was best he start at the beginning. “When we met…” He frowned, twining his fingers with hers unconsciously as he tried to remember. “I… couldn’t talk?” That seemed about right, though he was at a loss as to why he wouldn’t have been able to talk. Unless someone had had his coat, but he couldn’t remember that happening either – now wait, now he did. “Someone had my coat… and there was a cage.” Fragments of the meeting were coming and going through his head, leaving him quite muddled and confused. Rose was there, but she’d said that she’d never had his coat to control him, but his memories were saying he’d been caged. Shutting his eyes tight as he struggled to understand, he tightened his grip on her hand, trying to anchor himself before he lost it all. “I don’t understand.” He wanted to understand, he wanted to remember, but it was becoming almost overwhelming, and he’d learned already that being overwhelmed would mean he’d lose all the memories that were so close to being remembered, and that couldn’t happen. Not with this memory – it was an important one. Taking a few deep breaths, he struggled to settle his whirring thoughts, tense in fear of losing the memory of them meeting.

The old witch had been holed up in his garden for most of the morning, seeking to escape the festival preparations as much as he could. He’d never enjoyed it, and while he participated in the festival, getting the clearing ready for it had never been something he did. Knowing when his student left because of his plants telling him, he let her be for a while, worried about her, but unsure what to do for her. There was only so much comfort her could offer, and now that she’d stopped speaking again, he was almost at a loss of what to do. He wanted to be on the move again, and likely they would be in a couple of weeks once the festival was over, but he couldn’t work out if moving around would help her more than staying still would. When the plants alerted him that she was crying, he gave a soft sigh and sought out one of his favourite flowers, one that bloomed during the night when it was darkest. Picking one for her, he followed her magical trail to where she was sitting in the stream. He was in much more comfortable clothing than usual, though it seemed to be the equivalent of formal clothing for the elves, with delicate trims and extremely fine woven cloth. But he was still barefoot, which was what he preferred when he was at home. Sitting on the bank next to her, he watched the water for a while before offering her the plant. “It’s a night lily,” he said simply, moving his quiet gaze onto her. The flower was a vibrant red streaked with yellow, and was already starting to close up in response to the light. “It blooms biggest and best on nights where there is no moon. It’s a lesson that we can find hard to understand, but the darkness doesn’t always mean all is lost, little one. It could be just where you bloom the most.” Comfortable with her, he said nothing more, not pressing her to speak in return, or even acknowledge that he was there. He was sure that the company for now would be enough for her. He knew that the festival had started, but he was in no rush to get there. It was only the gathering right now, he wasn’t needed for his flute for a while yet. Brushing his fingers through the grass that he was sitting on, he could feel the happiness emanating from it, and from the water as it shone and sparkled around the selkie-witch. Eventually, he spoke again, softly. “You’re not alone. Spread out your magic and you can feel it, everything is connected, and nothing is alone.” Reaching out, he brushed his hand gently over her hair, letting his magic seep into her to comfort and calm her. “ Come and join us, little one. The festival magic helps to heal and renew. It’s spring, after all. The time for new beginnings and fresh chances,” He got to his feet, holding out his hand to her to take if she wanted to. If she decided to not come, he wasn’t going to force her, he’d just make sure that she’d be safe while he and the elves danced and played. He had his flute in his other hand, the strange wooden instrument intricately carved and shimmering with magic that was soaked through the old wood. “Come and dance, the festival isn’t just for the elves. It’s for witches of nature as well.”

Just a Matter of Magic - Page 11 Empty
PostSubject: Re: Just a Matter of Magic   Just a Matter of Magic - Page 11 I_icon_minitimeWed Dec 13, 2017 9:57 am

Glancing at him quietly, Rose was quiet and instead listened to his words, looking down with a quiet sigh when he managed to get out some bits and pieces from when they met, guessing from the sound of his voice that it was all fuzzy and out of focus. Taking a deep breath she stopped walking through the water and quietly moved so that they were facing each other, looking up into his grey eyes the redheaded demon spoke. “Its alright” her features softened a little “We met when you’d been captured by poachers, you were in a cage and they had your coat, I often hunted down poachers to free their creatures. I rescued you and your coat and got you out of there” reaching up with her free hand she pushed his curly hair back out of his face, he was so important to her, he had to remember everything and if that meant she told him every single one of her memories of them together then she would. However he was too tense to remember anything he needed to settle down and relax, “Come swim with me Fish Fingers” she urged, walking out of the water and keeping a firm hold on his hand she took him down to the quiet hidden cove and wandered down into the water. As ever the demon hated the touch of the salt water, but she ignored it, releasing her lovers hand the demon waded into the water a fair way before diving beneath the waves. Able to swim fairly well as she’d grown up on a small island, Rose was under the water for as long as she could hold her breath, popping up and completely drenched she grinned her usual crooked grin at him. “Come on” she repeated, wanting nothing more than to swim with him and forget about the real world for a while, doing her best to ignore the tug that urged her to just dive beneath the dark waves and never come back. Reaching out, she offered a hand to him, the salt water would be good for the healing wounds on his hands and feet too, she wasn’t sure if he knew how much he meant to her anymore. After all Ice had done a damn good job of fucking him over, there was no room in her mind for doubt about him remembering, he would remember everything because he had to, for both of their sakes. Still she had yet to warn him that there would be angels after her, she didn’t want to stress him out anymore than he already was, so she kept it to herself, hidden as best as she could and most of the time didn’t let herself think about it. There was nothing she could do so what was the point in winding herself up more?

The water told her that someone was coming, the stream that ran under ground a fair way was usually rather nosy and liked to know who was coming and going, looking up and taking in the different attire that she hadn’t seen him before, her pale blue-green eyes looked down and away rather quickly. Here she was again bothering him when she knew the festival was almost upon them, she kept quiet and gave a soft quiet sigh, hearing him speak once again she glanced up, to her silent surprise he was sitting there offering her a bright red flower. Quietly, she took it and held it tenderly in her hands, her free fingers very gently brushing over the vibrant petals, listening as he explained to her that it bloomed on nights when there was no moon, and added that it was a lesson that the darkness didn’t mean everything was over, but that it was possible to bloom in the dark. Nodding silently she traced her fingers over the petals, she knew that she was being rude by not talking but it was like she had no words to say anything, and even if she did speaking was so much effort. Studying the flower intently, she gave a slight jump of surprise when he spoke again urging her to reach out with her magic and understand that everything was connected, that she wasn’t alone. Doing so, she quickly felt the happiness of the water as it burbled its way along down the stream, its water seeping partially into the earth and nourishing the grass that in turn was happy as it had plenty of water and sunlight that it needed to live. The selkie-witch loved the water, it was warm and comforting which was why she’d come here, its gentle talking was soothing although she missed the sea, it kept calling for her tugging at her stronger and stronger as each full moon passed them by. Listening quietly as ever when he asked her to come and join him and the other elves, claiming that the festival magic helped to heal and renew, which made sense it was the start of spring after all. He moved and got to his feet, offering her a hand, it took her a few moments to come to a decision, slowly rising up out of the water she took the outstretched hand and got up out of the stream rather wet. She’d been struggling with her magic, as it was so music based yet she had no song in her, she couldn’t help but feel out of place, a spare person that wasn’t exactly needed, she had nothing to offer the world. Saoirse felt so broken, like she was being drowned, someone in the background that wasn’t exactly wanted or needed but others took pity on her. The only one that didn’t feel like they were acting that way was her mentor, with his hand still in hers she twined her fingers with his without really thinking about it. It’d been so long since she’d last danced, she wasn’t quite sure if she remembered how to, at the same time she felt so very guilty, she was so selfish thinking of herself and feeling sorry for herself and more than likely making Faolan feel bad as well. Struggling to find the words, she finally managed to croak out “Okay” she just wanted to be happy again, she just wanted to be herself again, the happy travelling singing and dancing selkie-witch that she’d been a few months ago before Ice had changed everything. Saoirse desperately wished to ask her mentor for help, to be happy again and able to play music once more, but her mouth just wouldn’t work it remained firmly closed despite her own efforts to talk.

Just a Matter of Magic - Page 11 Empty
PostSubject: Re: Just a Matter of Magic   Just a Matter of Magic - Page 11 I_icon_minitimeWed Jan 31, 2018 4:31 pm

The unexpected nickname made him snort faintly, amused at it, and he followed her into the water, turning over the new information carefully. Watching her swim, he soon stopped in the water, deep enough to brush his hands through the waves gently. It felt so right to be in the sea, and something was urging him to do something, he just didn’t know what, or how. There was something special about his coat, something that it and the sea let him do, but he couldn’t remember. The memory kept sliding out of his grasp, hovering just out of reach no matter what he did to try and remember. Finally giving up, he buried his bare toes in the sand and watched the fish swimming around them. The spray from the waves was making his hair curl tightly around his face, and he pushed his back before accepting her hand, curling his fingers around hers tightly. She was his anchor, he knew that so much. She meant everything to him, and he couldn’t give up on her. Trying to push all his worries out of his mind for now, he concentrated on trying to settle himself, knowing that being tense wasn’t going to help with remembering things. For now, he needed to just enjoy having a swim with Rose, and not worry about anything, and maybe that would help with the memory. Moving forward into the water, he ducked under and surfaced again, pushing his hair back out of his face. It felt so natural to be in the water, like it was a part of him, but he didn’t try to work out why. That would come later, when he was more relaxed and it was easier to think about it.

He gave her a quiet smile at the soft word, not pressing her to speak more. Hopefully the music and dancing of the festival would help break the wall that was stopping her from picking up her instruments, but he knew that it would take time. “You’re not alone, little one. Remember that.” Keeping hold of her hand, he showed her the way to the clearing that the elves had spent weeks decorating. Soft lanterns were hung from nearly every branch of the trees circling the clear space, ready to be lit as the sun went down. A few were testing their instruments, and he knew that he’d be called over to them at some point to play with them. For now, it was just the sound of the birds and soft chatter that drifted through the clearing, punctuated just then by a harsh caw from his crow. The bird landed on his shoulder with another soft caw, rustling his wings before settling down quietly. The witch gave his student a quick glance, checking that everything was okay still. “You don’t have to participate if you don’t want to. You can sit and watch.” Pushing a stray strand of hair out of her face, he studied her. “If you want to go, you can, there’s no need to apologise or let me know. I’ll meet you at home, okay?” Giving her hand an encouraging squeeze, he let go and moved off to finish helping his mother before the festival really got started. Hopefully she’d be okay, and it wouldn’t be too overwhelming for the quiet girl. He was at a bit of a loss of how to help her right now, but he’d do his best. He had no doubts that eventually she’d recover, even if it took a few years.

Just a Matter of Magic - Page 11 Empty
PostSubject: Re: Just a Matter of Magic   Just a Matter of Magic - Page 11 I_icon_minitimeSun Feb 11, 2018 4:41 pm

Grinning as the sea spray made his hair curl tightly, rose lifted her free hand to gently tug on one of the tendrils of corkscrews “Curly Whirly” moving forward into the water with him, rose kept a firm hold of his hand when he ducked under and surfaced again. She couldn’t put into words how it felt to be here with him again, this was all she really wanted from the world although the added bonus of his memories back would be appreciated. For now she’d focus on helping him remember and making new memories with him, moving a little deeper and now out of reach of the bottom, Rose began floating in the water, kicking her legs lazily to help keep her afloat. She was somewhat surprised that he hadn’t shifted into a seal, and began to suspect that he couldn’t remember how to do that either, that was something she couldn’t help with she had no idea what it was like to shift into something else. Time and patience would bring that ability of his back, she’d be patient and wait for him to remember that, to remember everything, she’d spent so much of her life believing that she was the bad fruit that nobody buys and that she was worthless. She’d despised herself and yet had forced herself to continue hunting on her own, making more bad choices and decisions until she’d met him, and now she couldn’t even get out what he meant to her in her head or voice them. There were no words that adequately explained it, so she held his hand, being careful not to squeeze too tightly after all he’d had nails hammered through his hands, glancing at him checking that everything was alright with him still brief worry broke through her features before she hid it again. Her own thoughts and feelings mattered not, he was far more important, how many times had he saved her now? As a human and then as a demon, what kind of horrific creature would she be now if it wasn’t for him? She wouldn’t loose him, couldn’t loose him, she’d stay with him, glued to his side if need be and help him with his memories.

Walking with her mentor, she stayed close, twining her fingers with his, Saoirse nodded as he reminded her that she wasn’t alone, she had him. Walking quietly with him as he showed her the way to the clearing, taking in the various decorations quietly the selkie didn’t say much. How could she? She didn’t know how to talk anymore, instead there was this strange sensation that made her jaws ache and her eyes prick yet tears didn’t fall, he explained that she didn’t have to participate that she could just sit and watch. That sounded nice, she was good at watching, that was the only thing she was good at, she was so pathetic, such a waste of space, so selfish and repulsive, blinking up at him with features that were difficult to read Saoirse didn’t move a muscle when he brushed the hair out of her face. He asked her a question that she didn’t hear, nodding and hoping that it was the right response she tried to respond to the squeeze with one of her own but he’d already let it go and walking off to help his mother. Finding a quiet out of the way place to sit in the shadows, Saoirses mind began to think too much again, she was such a horrible person, making him worry over her, she was pathetic not being able to do anything except just sit and shut herself away yet when she tried to open up she couldn’t like the walls that had been put up to defend her were now locked in place. Useless, pathetic, worthless, what had happened was her own fault, if she’d been more careful, if she’d used her magic then perhaps she wouldn’t be the broken, tainted thing she was now. Her hands rested in her lap, she felt so cold, as if there was some sort of chill in her core that wouldn’t let her be warm, the water had been nice and warm and so had Faolans hand, now she was doing her best to not shiver or be noticed. She didn’t want to be noticed, she would have compared herself to a cockroach, except even they had positive aspects, she had nothing, the black swirl that had settled in her head and heart was not dissimilar to a whirlpool or a black hole slowly growing and taking over more and more over her, aided by her inability to talk to, air things out and say what she felt.

The music began, listening from her hidden away place it made her heart ache, she missed playing her instruments yet every time she’d tried the muse to play had faded. Soon enough elves started to dance, elegant figures moving beautifully to the almost enchanting music that sounded from those playing. The silent watcher observed the goings on, a long forgotten song she’d once heard years ago and that her father hadn’t let it play came to her mind, everything was going on like nothing had ever happened to her. She’d been through something traumatic, horrible and life changing, but she’d survived, she was still here, and in order to continue still being there and learning how to shine again like how the elves shone in their music and dancing meant she had to get help or the darkness it would consume her. She wanted to feel like she belonged again, instead of feeling like the worthless out cast she was, the question of did she deserve to belong stumped her. Yet it seemed her mentor hadn’t given up despite being stumped, he’d always seen something in her that no one else had seen, for some reason, right now she doubted if there actually was anything in her that was special yet she trusted him. He knew her, she needed to tell him, so she could heal and grow strong again, she had to remember who she’d once been, who she was. Sitting there numbly with the conflicting thoughts and feelings arguing with the blackness, that told her, she was still here, she could do it, she had to take control of her body again. Slowly looking down at her hands feeling rather sick, Saoirse clenched them, taking short breaths and trying not to hyper ventilate, it wasn’t until the festival was almost over before she was finally able to break through what kept her seated and got up. Heading back home she walked inside and found her guitar, wiping the dust off it with a cloth and tuning it, she sat down and for the first time in months began to play, the song that she’d remembered thanks to the festival almost playing itself her fingers automatically picking the correct strings. As she played, the tears began, the black mass was so powerful and all encompassing it was hard to continue to fight it as much as she was fighting it, the small amount of fight she was putting in was fast exhausting her, she couldn't do it on her own, it needed to be talked about it needed to be aired out.

PostSubject: Re: Just a Matter of Magic   Just a Matter of Magic - Page 11 I_icon_minitimeFri Mar 23, 2018 11:50 pm

Managing a tiny smile for her as she played with his curly hair, Angus also moved deeper into the sea with her, letting his hands trail through the water. It felt nice on his injured hands, soothing the pain for a while. Watching as the water slid over his coat, he curled his fingers around hers when she took his hand, and traced the cut in his coat with his free hand. It felt wrong, having the tear there, but someone had put it back together. He guessed that was Rose, and he was grateful for that. Hopefully over time, more memories would return, and the strange feeling that he was missing something in relation to the sea would be answered. Content there with her, eventually the troubled selkie closed his eyes, now relaxed enough for more memories to start filtering back. There were a few about swimming which intrigued him, and he spoke quietly, more focused on the memories than on what his partner was doing. “I swam a lot,” he murmured. “You find it cold, didn’t swim much.” The wind pushed his hair into his face again, and he pushed it out, tucking the tightly curled strands behind his ears. “You like playing with my hair.” The memories were settling down in place now, and he knew that they were true. Remembering the other selkie that he’d been trapped with, the redhead, he gave a slight frown, wondering how she was. “The younger selkie, she’s okay?”

The old witch had left his student in peace once he’d left her, helping his mother with finalising all the preparations. She’d somehow managed to convince him to play for them, so once they were done, he had a soft play of the flute, making sure that it was all tuned before joining in with the festival. It had been such a long time since he’d been here for a spring festival, he was glad to be around for this one. The plants told him when she left to go home, and he kept an absent magical eye on her, not wanting her to break down without him being around if she wanted the company. It was a fair while before the festival finally finished, and he stayed a little bit longer to watch the lanterns hanging in the trees. Tucking his flute away in a pocket, he began to wander back to his home, aware that his crow was off wandering somewhere. It didn’t bother him, the crow was notorious for not being around despite being his familiar. It suited the pair well. Back home, he paused at the sound of the guitar, not recognising the tune, but knowing that it was what she needed. Her music was such a part of her that hearing it meant she’d been able to make a breakthrough in whatever had been holding her down. Relieved that his student had been brave and strong enough to do that, he pushed open the front door, unwilling to disturb her unless that was what she wanted. He soon came across the young selkie-witch in the main living room, crying over the music and he walked quietly over to her and crouched in front of her. Studying her quietly, the old witch wiped her tears away with a gentle touch, offering her his comfort. “There we go, little one,” he murmured, getting up to sit beside her and slip an arm around her shoulder. “You’re okay to cry, you’re not alone.” He would be with her until she was ready to strike out in the world on her own, he had a duty towards teaching her, and over the past few months he’d grown somewhat fond of the youngster, and didn’t mind teaching her what he knew.

Listening to her irish partner, Rose nodded choosing not to interrupt him she listened as he remembered that she wasn't a fan of the water and that she loved to play with his hair. Speaking when she was asked an actual question Rose replied "Yeah, she went off with the Witch that's taken her under his wing. You're right about the other things too" god she loved the big idiot, his grin and sense of humor, the wicked glint in his eye when he was up to something cheeky. How he'd forget everything else when burying himself in books searching for something, how they'd drink together and how bad his accent was the more he was sloshed. Their drunken dancing together and singing osngs badly, she needed him, he was everything she needed and she kept running out of word choices to explain what he was, what he made her feel. "Curly whirly, I'll be there every day, night, every second i don't want to be without you" the words were softly murmured without much thought her gaze fixated on his face comitting it to memory all over again. The sea was good for him, sticking close to him and doing her best to ignore the pull that wanted her to dive beneath the waves the demon leaned against her selkie that she'd promised herself she'd protect.

As always when she needed him most he appeared, once the song was finished the guitar was pushed to the side, wrapping her arms around the firm warm body of her mentor the girls mental walls that had prevented her from saying much crumbled a little and everything began slipping out from between her lips "Its like a black whirlpool is taking away every part of me leaving me trapped and scared" hiding her face in his shoulder she sobbed gut wrenching songs as the rest of how she felt came out. How empty and numb she'd felt, the awful way she'd felt when she'd tried to play before now, ending up exhausted and tired, the idea of pulling away wasn't one she had any intention of really following. He was so safe, and the sound of his heartbeat was like a promise that she wasn't alone, settled there she could only hope that things would get better from there, she wanted to be her laughing self again who could play all day without running out of muse for it. "Please.... help me" Saoirse murmured "I want to be myself again" it was stunning how being able to ask for help made her feel, lookign up at him with quiet eyes the redhead waited for the response.

Nodding, Angus leaned against her quietly, glad that the other selkie was okay now. The throbbing in his hands was pushed aside for now. The copper-made holes were always hurting, and he knew that they would take a long long time to heal properly, if they even healed properly at all. Closing his eyes, he stayed where he was in the water, letting the waves wash over his legs and still being unable to feel the tug that had once been such a part of him. He was tiring now from remembering things, and he held her hand tighter, ignoring the stab of pain that went up his arm. “Want to stay with you,” he murmured. He always had, despite everything Ice had done to him, despite the feeling in his bones that she was dangerous. He was safe with her, him and his coat. Reminded, he used his free hand to tug his coat closer to him to keep it safe. He had to keep the coat safe, it was so important even though he wasn’t quite sure what it was supposed to help him do. “Head back inside?”

Holding her close, the witch stayed quiet as she sobbed and let everything spill out, listening to her. He wasn’t surprised that she was scared, she’d been through so much at the hands of Ice. “It’s okay to be scared,” he said softly. He brushed his hand over her hair gently, comforting her as best he could. This was why he’d brought her here, it was safe and she wasn’t going to get hurt here while she recovered. “I’m here to help you however you need it.” Meeting her pale gaze with his own kind ones, he hugged her closer. The crying would have exhausted her, and he knew that she was still having nightmares when she slept, so he’d have to ready a sleeping draught for her to help with that. It was little bother, there were plenty of the ingredients around here and sleeping spells was one thing that he’d learned very well from his mother. “Come, little one,” he said gently, moving slightly to stand up. “Have a drink and try to sleep a bit. It will help you.” Finding the sleeping draught he’d made up earlier, he mixed it with the glass of water for her, glad that it was tasteless. He passed her the glass then shooed her into bed, knowing that it wouldn’t take long for her to be knocked out and peacefully asleep for a few hours.

PostSubject: Re: Just a Matter of Magic   Just a Matter of Magic - Page 11 I_icon_minitimeMon Jul 15, 2019 1:17 pm

The quiet admission made the demon smile quietly at him, nodding when he asked if they could head back, Rose wandered back up the beach with Angus, leaving the sea that tried so desperately to pull her back into its waves. When they got inside, she added more wood to the fire and sat him down on the couch snuggling into him, “You would read and read, you loved books where I usually preferred movies. You’d write your own books about creatures and other things, sometimes after swimming you’d dump your heavy wet coat on me and I’d get grumpy but you just laughed it off” her voice was soft, her mind lost in the past remembering the moments she spoke about with great fondness. “on nights of the full moon you’d get drunk to try and dull the call of the moon and the sea and we’d sit infront of the fire together” he had to remember, he simply had to, it felt like she’d go crazy with all of these memories trapped in her head that he had no recollection of. Once he had his memories she had a right mind to go dark and hunt down ice like the twisted little bitch she was and make sure she could never harm her motley crew of a family ever again. Tucking Angus’ curls behind his ears quietly she watched him, brows slightly furrowed.

Nestling into the hug and finally able to stop the flow of tears she took his hand and stayed close to him when he pulled back and stood, obediently accepting the cup. Wandering to where her bed was and downing the glass it took little time for the sleeping potion to knock her out, staying asleep for a solid twelve hours, Saoirse woke up refreshed and feeling like her spirit was lighter than it had been at the same time the day before. Getting up after remaining in bed savouring the feeling, she made herself presentable spending some time sitting on her bed brushing her hair enjoying the soothing feeling, picking up her guitar from where she’d left it she idly wandered through the house searching for Fao and being unable to find him walked down to the stream and sat down with her feet in the water starting to play, the song was gentle and relaxed although it had no lyrics and she doubted she’d ever find the right ones for it but that didn’t really matter to her, things didn’t always need to have a purpose, lyrics didn’t always have to have music and music didn’t always have to have lyrics.

Just a Matter of Magic - Page 11 Empty
PostSubject: Re: Just a Matter of Magic   Just a Matter of Magic - Page 11 I_icon_minitimeMon Jul 15, 2019 7:40 pm

He walked with her, still trying to work out his memories and trying so hard not to let the dark thoughts come back in. Curling up on the couch, the selkie listened quietly to her, letting the words settle in his mind and find their proper places. “I don’t remember writing.” It seemed important, why couldn’t he remember that. Frowning, he pulled one of the books over to him to flick through the handwritten pages, still not remembering anything that had been written in there. “Why is the full moon important?” It was another memory he couldn’t work out, and he knew that he had to work it out, he just couldn’t.

Having left his student to sleep peacefully, Faolan was in one of his study rooms around the huge old tree when she woke. The plants told him, as they told him everything that happened, but he didn’t move from where he was, focused on the spell he was trying to decipher from a copy of the very old book in the selkie’s home. He was curious about what the spell was for, and he wanted to see if he could learn it and work it out while he was here with his mother around – just in case. He was powerful and careful, but she was even more so, so it paid to be careful. Finally emerging, he followed the young witch’s path down to the stream, having left her alone on purpose. He wasn’t the sort to be constantly hovering, she knew that he was around and that she’d be able to find him if she really needed it, but otherwise she was free to do as she wished to start her path to healing. Picking up the sound of her music, he followed it and ended up sitting near her to listen, his magic settled deep into the plants around them and keeping an eye on everything. He had no inclination to talk just yet so he stayed quiet to enjoy the peace.

Leaning her head against his shoulder, she watched him reach over and pull one of his books out “you will, don’t rush it” the question about the full moon was answered softly “you are a selkie, the full moon pulls selkies back to the sea strongly. Your kind uses your coat to turn into seals and return to the sea, it’s hard to resist” she didn’t particularly understand why it was that he didn’t remember being a selkie or have no understanding on how this affected him he seemed to have no real attachment to the sea or the moon and it confused her. The red head would have asked the witch about it but he was long gone and so she was left to figure it out on her own. Closing her eyes and nuzzling into him she grit her teeth, it’d work out, it all simply had to or she felt like her world would end. There were so many worries buzzing around her head it was like hornets, a constant worry churning her stomach, the aching pain in her jaw from tensing it so often and for so long, and yet she couldn’t talk about any of it, it had to stay quiet, it wasn’t important he was the most important thing. “It’ll be fine you’ll see”swallowing down a mouthful of acid and retensing her jaw once more, Rose made a mental note to get in contact with Killian when she could, although he was pissed with her he might be pissed enough to do what needed to be done to make her a demon no longer.

Closing the book, Angus set it down again, closing his eyes as he cuddled closer to her, trying to relax and let the memories flow. “I don’t remember anything about that,” he murmured softly, not pushing for anything in his head. “I hope so.” He cuddled closer to her, wanting the comfort now that he’d begun to work out what they were together. She was so so important to him, and he didn’t want to drive her away in any way. He just wanted to regain his memories as fast as he could so that they could go back to being what they’d been before, and not have to worry about what could have happened. Thankfully it appeared that the black thoughts had receded somewhat with her being close to him, and him being close to her.

Feeling him cuddle closer to her the demon sighed quietly, supposing she’d better start reteaching him things she commented quietly “Remind me to start teaching you about creatures again. You’ve got a lot to catch up on” she also made a mental note to do some research on things, there had to be something about missing memories on the internet that’d have some suggestions. All she knew for true was that he had found her humanity, he was the one thing that made her blackened soul good, the love that they shared kept away the darkest urges and impulses that went along with being a demon, and thus she’d do anything and everything to help him, no matter the cost. “You’ll have books on selkies in your store, we just need to find them and start patching holes” and pray as ironic as praying was that he continued to trust his gut and not believe the false memories that ice had so cruelly planted in his head. She’d never been one to tell him what she felt a lot and despite being somewhat worried that this would push him away “We met ages ago, literal centuries ago” she might as well tell him everything and patch the holes, fill in the details, the gaps.

It’d been a few weeks since her breakthrough, with the drink her mentor gave her at night she’d been nightmare free, up early she had headed outside barefoot again. Ginger hair let free she brought her old guitar with her heading out to the stream that she knew enough to feel like it was a friend. Brushing her fingers over the various bushes as she went past saying warm greetings to the plants she knew nearly as well as the stream having gone out of her way to provide them with water from it to save them energy. She felt so awake, alive and connected to everything, although plants were not her strong suit she’d learned enough to be able to feel them and their life energy, humming to herself she stopped at the edge of the land looking into the cheerful burbling stream. Dressed in a creased dress that probably should have been ironed instead of being pulled out of a bag and flung on so she could head out and play outside. Stepping into the water that always felt warm, the selkie sat down on the lip of the land resting her feet in the water and pulled her guitar around so she could start to play. Picking one of the songs that pulled at her the most, Saoirse’s voice soon filled the air her voice filled with emotion, one of her submerged feet gently tapping the beat, the water changed as she played naturally reacting to the thing that channeled her magic the most effectively growing playful as it seemed to match her happiness as the sun rose in the sky its rays shining on her copper hair and animated features.

It had been a long few weeks with his student, but she’d slowly been healing, and now seemed to be well on her way to helping herself become whole again. He was still giving her the potion to help her sleep be dreamless, and he didn’t mind that. He’d tweaked the recipe enough that it would have no lasting side effects from prolonged use, which meant she was safe to keep using it as long as she wanted or needed to. The house as usual informed him when she was awake and where she headed, and he took note of that while he dealt with the sensitive and exotic plants he needed to care for in the small greenhouse. They were important ingredients for something his mother wanted, and once they were tended to, he fetched his staff and went for a wander down to the stream, following the music and his student’s voice. Ending up in the shadow of a tree, he stood there leaning on the ancient polished wooden staff and listened quietly, waiting until she was done before moving forward. “You’re becoming stronger.”

Turning around when she heard the voice, Saoirse spoke “You gave me a fright, haven’t you ever heard of giving someone warning?” although he walked so quietly normally that she doubted she would have been able to hear him even if she hadn’t been playing. Wondering if he wanted something she stood up and got out of the water, the water hugged her legs as if reluctant to let her go, the sun was warm and the water was happy as were the plants that surrounded them both it made her happy too. Her chest felt lighter, like the stone weighing her down had grown wings and flown off on its own, she just wanted to play and sing and dance and it was the first time in quite a while that she had felt this way. Walking over to him she continued “if im getting stronger then I want to learn how to harness it, I want to be able to control it as best as I can” some of the books she’d read had warned about what happened when a witch got too strong and was unable to harness and control their powers and she was not about to let that happen to her now that she had come so far.

“Listen to the water and I won’t be able to give you a fright.” Straightening up he tapped the surface of the water absently with his staff as he thought. “Have you been reading the books I’ve given you?” They were a good start, and had some nice simple spells in there that she could start with. “They contain good beginner spells you can practice on your own.” Making a decision, he motioned towards the water that was still shining slightly from her being in it and singing. “Do you remember the spell I taught you that lifted the water up in a sphere?”

Huffing Saoirse didn’t bother coming up with a retort to that, “Yes I have, they’ve been really interesting I’ve learnt so much” learning all sorts of new spells had been lots of fun as well, although she hadn’t done too much dabbling on her own very respectful of the magic and wary of things getting too out of control. Instead of answering his next question with words she freed her hands and with some concentration lifted a ball of water out of the water, her smile fading some as she concentrated. She wanted to do him proud he’d helped her, especially after what had been done to her, she’d found her music, herself again because of him. A cheeky smile brightened her features once again, with vigour Saoirse sent the globe of water straight at his head, aware that it’d probably be sent back at her so the selkie made sure that she was ready to catch it just incase, a childish light hearted giggle erupting from her. Feeling awake and alive once more like she’d been stuck in a fog after Ice, it was wonderful to feel everything once more, and it showed on her face, in her movements in her voice and in the giggle that rippled through the air.
